Simple Candied Yams

Simple and yummy sweet potato recipe that you can prepare fairly quickly.

Equipment

  • 1 9x12" casserole dish or foil pan

Ingredients
  

  • 3-4 sweet potatoes
  • 3 tbsp butter - melted
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1-2 cups corn flakes - crushed
  • 12-15 regular sized marshmallows

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F
  • Cook and mash the sweet potatoes.
    3-4 sweet potatoes
  • In a 9x12 casserole dish, spread melted butter until it coats the bottom.
    3 tbsp butter - melted
  • Spread brown sugar around the bottom of the dish. Press the sugar down with the back of a spoon until it covers the bottom of the pan.
    1/2 cup brown sugar
  • Using your hands, cover one marshmallow with sweet potatoes until it forms a ball.
    12-15 regular sized marshmallows
  • Roll sweet potato ball in crushed corn flakes until covered.
    1-2 cups corn flakes - crushed
  • Place finished sweet potato ball in casserole dish.
  • Repeat creating the sweet potato balls until the casserole dish is full.
  • Bake covered for 20-30 minutes.

Notes

Be sure to cool the mashed sweet potatoes before you form thw sweet potato balls or else you might burn your hands.
